History

Powell Street Brewing Co is one of the most respected micro breweries in Vancouver, and Canada as a whole. The brewery which is ran by a husband and wife team initially started as a nano brewery back in 2012. They were forced to expand just a year later after receiving the Beer of the Year award in the Canadian Brewing Awards. This level of recognition brought them into the limelight on a national scale. Their award winning Old Jalopy Pale Ale became a national sensation, increasing demand for their offering through the roof.

Development

As previously stated, Powell Street Brewing Co grew from being a nano brewery to a nationally recognised microbrewery almost overnight. Just after opening their doors in 2012, their Old Jalopy Pale Ale won Beer of the year Award in the Canadian Beer Awards, and they were forced to grow into a micro brewery to meet the increasing demand for their impressive craft beers. The journey to supplying patrons of all walks of life with their highly sought after craft beers had began in earnest. They were forced to move to a larger place where they could expand their operation to a micro brewery; this was realised in 2014. As one of the top Vancouver craft breweries today, they welcome visitors to tour their facility and even sample their locally produced beers in their exceptional tasting room.
